Sustainability Award for PURA

In light of the eighth edition of Archiproducts Design Awards, a momentous occasion which celebrates superior design on an international level, Cotto d’Este has received this prestigious award in recognition for their efforts to pursue more sustainable solutions.

Following its admittance to the ADI Design Index, upon which it was also nominated for the Compasso d'Oro, PURA has now received the Sustainability Award, an award which honors recipients for their upstanding production cycle, environmentally conscious approach and participation in THINk ZERO, with particular emphasis on their implementation and use of ultrathin slabs.

Pura is a high-end ceramic collection that combines sophisticated aesthetics, beautiful surfaces and the potential for incredible design thanks in large part to the unique Kerlite 6 plus (6.5mm) - the front runner in ultrathin surface architecture for Cotto d'Este - the 14mm thick porcelain stoneware and 20mm outdoor porcelain stoneware. This award specifically recognizes the attention to sustainability in design despite the differences in product thickness, at the forefront of this endeavor, the ultrathin slabs, which have demonstrated significant reduction in energy consumption and emissions during the production process, as well as compensated for lifecycle emissions and participated in additional international sustainable mobility projects (THINk ZERO). It doesn’t end there; with the processing of only natural elements, use of 40% recycled material in overall product development and the recycling of 100% of water used during production, resulting in an up to 80% reduction in the consumption of natural water resources in production cycles and bringing waste reduction and recovery of said materials to nearly 100%.
