2018 marks an important date for Cotto d’Este, which celebrates its first 25 years of intense work and countless successes.

>Founded in Sassuolo in 1993 by entrepreneur Paolo Mussini, the company has created revolutionary products, innovative creations and prestigious references that have given it a leading role in the production of porcelain stoneware floors and walls.

Today, just as it did 25 years ago, the brand continues to offer a product that testifies to the quality of Made in Italy and to its products, which combine an artisan style with industrial workmanship and are destined to last a lifetime. A meticulous aesthetic is translated into sophisticated, innovative and unique processes on surface effects, as well as an unrivalled variety of product graphics: attention to detail that can preserve the characteristics of products, combined with the most advanced cutting-edge technology.

In the early Nineties, standardization was the norm for the ceramic market. Paolo Mussini came up with the idea of creating products that stand out due to their uniqueness and sophistication: exclusive floors and walls that can interpret the taste and requirements of the most demanding consumers.

Following the introduction of 14 mm-thick surfaces, obtained through firing that lasts twice as long as the average firing of 10 mm-thick stoneware, in order to create a product 3 times more resistant than traditional tiles which does not lose the beauty of its surfaces over time, the company revolutionized the ceramic market by first introducing Kerlite, the innovative ultra-thin large-format slabs reinforced with fibreglass.

Since 2004, Cotto d’Este’s Kerlite has exclusively established itself among architects and dealers as an outstanding surface for architecture: it is slim, durable, versatile and easy to use.

Another important change, supported by continuous innovative research, was the digital printing introduced by the company to give greater clarity and depth to the design, creating new opportunities to develop ceramic surfaces.

The brand’s sophistication, quality and excellence have made it a favourite among architects and designers who, over time, have chosen its surfaces for exclusive projects such as Bosco Verticale, Doha airport, the Bulgari Resort in Dubai and the longest tunnel in Europe on the Variante di Valico of the A1 motorway in Italy.

All these projects are further demonstration of how Cotto d’Este, 25 years after its creation, continues to look with increasing enthusiasm to the challenges and goals of the future, maintaining its original commitment and determination.
